Fashion Space Lab
Immersive retail concept
Aim
Explore how physical retail can recover post-Covid
Overview
Merging fashion retail, sci-fi film and emerging technology, Fashion Space Lab aims to trial a more immersive and customised shopping experience. Through 10 fashion brand and sci film collaborations, this event would aim to bring escapism and experimentation into brand to consumer interactions.
Key Insights
“The BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor shows 30% of clothing sales are done online.” However, it is also explained that “most of these sales are made at the websites of retailers who also have store networks.’’ [Rachel Lund, 2019]
In a survey posted on Facebook in 2019, only 53.85% of 26 people said they prefer to shop online to in store and 80.77% of these people also said they would prefer high street stores if they became more experiential.
"Sci-fi I believe has always been popular as it’s a form of escapism.... Generally, it allows your imagination to escape the confines of reality..."
Danny Sangra, directior, writer and illustrator (2021)

Initial Mood Board
This visual mood board allowed me to set the tone for the event. It summarises my research into retail spaces, film sets, themed experiences and interactive technology.
Infographics and collage concepts
The 10 collaborations created for the event were thoughtfully considered through in depth research into both the brand and films. The infographics showcase the interactive elements of each pop up space and the collages create an abstract visual overview.
